We've had a lot of phone calls, text messages and emails from friends and family asking if we're ok...in case you haven't heard, Iowa's flooding. The good news is that everything is ok in Clinton. We're lucky that the city built a levee after a bad flood in the 60's. Some rural roads have some water and they have the flood gates closed at the boat ramp (so Jason hasn't been able to fish) but other than that life is normal here. The weather has been horrible up until this week. It was raining almost everyday and it was almost always 2-3 inches at a time. We only had to go to the basement 1 time when the tornado sirens went off. My parents and Matt & Em are also high and dry, for now...Matt & Em had bad storms, tornadoes and a flooded basement. They also got "stuck" in Clinton for an extra day this weekend after interstate 80 was closed. Everything you've been seening on the news is about 90 miles west of our house.
Over the weekend we celebrated father's day, Jason's first! On Saturday we went to the John Deere Pavillions (a nice midwest way to spend a day) and we went back to the zoo. On Sunday we had lunch at my parents, but spent most of the day relaxing. I've attached a bunch of pictures from our weekend.
John Deere Pavillions...that's a $400,000 combine and they produce 40 a month in the quad cities...all are pre-sold!
A double rainbow over the Mississippi. We've had so much rain that the river looks like chocolate milk. This picture was taken off my parents deck.
