Little "H"

We found out this morning that our little "H" had a stroke a few days ago. :( He's only 5, so he's very young to have a stroke. For the past few days he's been having a lot of problems. His head is constantly tilted to one side, he's lost all coordination, he can't go up and down the stairs, when he does walk he veers to the right, he falls over a lot and he has difficulty sitting. It's really quite sad. The vet put him on steroids, half a baby aspirin, and a high calorie soft food. Now all we can do is wait and see. I guess strokes don't affect dogs like humans, and they can actually recover from them. The vet thought we'd see a noticeable improvement by Christmas.
I think Henry has 9 lives. In the last few years he's put us through a bunch. He had a tumor come out through his skin late at night. Our vet was nice enough to see us way after hours...for a fee! ;) He ran out of the yard, only to be stolen by a stranger driving by. He was missing for 3 weeks. Then out to the blue we got an "anonymous tip" from a vets office. Someone had called them to turn in the lady that took him. The police brought him back to us the day we left for Christmas in Missouri 2 years ago. Hopefully we'll be lucky again this time.
We leave tonight after Jason gets home for Christmas in Missouri. All along the plan has been for my parents to watch Henry. I felt horrible loading him up in the truck after we got home from the vet. I don't think I'm up for dog mom of the year!
We had a frigidly cold weekend here. The windchill was about 30 below zero. On Saturday, before it got so cold, we took Ellery sledding for the first time. Jason was pretty excited to get her out! She looked so cute in her new snowsuit.

Sledding with Daddy.

I got my Christmas cards out on Friday. Here are the pictures I took for the Christmas card. We ended up choosing the top one.
